Global gas model
A monthly nodal model of the global gas network, built from public data on OPEN-PCM conventions. It finds the least-cost way to meet gas demand each month across pipelines, LNG and storage, and runs scenarios from 2026 to 2035.
Scope
What the model covers
- NodesCountries with gas demand or production, US states, and LNG export and import terminal groups.
- PipelinesCross-border and interstate pipeline capacity from public infrastructure data.
- LNGLiquefaction, shipping routes and regasification, with project start dates from public trackers.
- StorageMonthly injection and withdrawal, carried across the year.
- ScenariosDemand and supply cases to 2035, including a link from power-sector gas use to the Institute's power load inputs.
